Systems engineers today navigate between virtual workspaces, team collaboration tools, issue trackers and management systems for epics and stories, some of which are stored in different clouds and others in the company. Decisions are based on a “baseline” of the current state of information. When making decisions, it would be good practice to “freeze” this status and use it as the basis for justifying the decision. While this used to be easier with the company's own version management, today's heterogeneous environment presents an interesting challenge, especially in the context of a moderately complex environment without a budget for additional tools.

The aim is to create a simple template for requirement documents along the lines of the common architecture documentation, for which the working group received very positive feedback when it was presented at TdSE 2014.
